Up All Night

This wonderful collection of short stories is based on a night in the life of six individuals, five teens and one monkey. There is something for everyone in this collection: supernatural, realistic fiction, family relationships, friendships, even a comic! One of my favorites was "Code Orange" by Patricia McCormick. This is the story of girl and her relationship with her mother's lecherous boyfriend. Told in the first person, you don't know her name, but can't help but admire her guts and her solution to the problem of Ed, the boyfriend. The last sentence of "Not Just for Breakfast Anymore" is classic! I am also very fond of the first story in the collection. "Phase 2" has such a great ending!
