The Missing Girl

The Missing Girl
by Norma Fox Mazer
A family of five sisters: Beauty, Mim, Faithful (who has changed her name to Stevie), Fancy, and Autumn lead a somewhat dysfunctional life in a home where dad is disabled and has lost his job. Told through the alternating voices of three sisters, we learn about the stresses in their personal and collective lives. A narrator brings us into the mind of the deranged man who stalks them and the terror that eventually comes into this family. We learn how each girl copes with the kidnapping that takes place and the effect this has on the family. I thought the individual voices of each girl were well-defined and the the mind of the predator was terrifying. I kept thinking, how could someone even imagine his thoughts!

Hey Barbara,

You mean you liked "The Missing Girl"?! I don't get it. What am I missing? I thought it was so boring!! But, I also love two completely different opinions!

I'm now reading The Unspoken, which so far is pretty good. It's about five teenagers who flee a cult after killing the leader, but now two of the five are dead.

I'll post a review when I finish it.

Have a good wkend.

I was actually afraid to post this, because I knew how you felt. But then I decided why not, it's okay to have more than one point of view. It makes life more interesting.
I'm working on Hunger Games right now. We'll see......

Barbara,

Never be afraid! And you're right! Different opinions can only help someone who is trying to decide what to read next!
