Lock and Key

Lock and Key by Sarah Dessen

The only life Ruby has known is the strange existance with her mother: always on the move, never asking for or offering help, never developing any close relationships. Ruby's life changes and her perceptions are quesitons when her mother suddenly decides to abandon Ruby. Many interesting questions are explored in this book: Can you really wipe the slate clean, turn your back on everything, and start a new life? Is it as easy to accept help as to offer help? What does it mean to be a family?

A sweet story. Many interesting characters and even more interesting ideas.
